Science and Engineering Olympics

Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to participate in the Science and Engineering Olympics to be held on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011.  Students are asked to visit the website below for information on projects, guidelines and rules.  We will begin working on projects on Thursday, February 10, 2011 after school.  Once students have chosen their project, they are asked to bring in materials to help with their construction.  Students should arrange for someone to pick them up from school by 3:30.

Enrichment Mini-Course

Students in the Frank Ryan PGL Program are offered a very unique opportunity this spring.  They can participate in enrichment mini-courses offered through the University of Ottawa and Carleton University from May 2-6, 2011.  Students can take part in a 25-hour mini-course which runs 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday.  All courses start at 9:00 A.M. and end at 3:00 P.M. with a 1 hour lunch break. 
Mini-courses are offered in a variety of disciplines, such as information technology, psychology, engineering, journalism, music and law. They are highly interactive; they combine brief presentations, practical exercises, laboratory exercises, group discussions and field expeditions; and they provide an unforgettable learning experience!
Students will receive an application form to be completed and signed by parents.  (Form can also be completed online at:  http://admin.emcp-pmce.org/scrRegistrationForm.asp?mode=2  )  Students are also asked to select from 1-10 their favourites courses.  All courses and descriptions can be found at :   http://emcp-pmce.org/  Students will be assigned a course at random.
